Chevrolet Repair: fan/heat controlls, local junk yards, blower selection

Hello tom! My name is tanner and the previous owner of my GMC 2001 sierra (halfton 1500 non HD)broke the inside of the knob for my blower selection (defrost/face/feet/etc..) after removing the knob it turns out the small notched rod will not turn at all even when i use pliers. what could this be and what can i do?

HI TANNER,YOU WILL NEED A NEW HEAD.NOT THE HUMAN KIND. THIS IS CALLED THE CONTROL HEAD. IT HAS LOCKED UP.I HAVE SEEN THIS AT TIMES. BEING IT IS THIS YEAR TRUCK I WOULD CALL AROUND TO YOUR LOCAL JUNK YARDS AND PICK ONE UP CHEAPER THEN NEW..YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE CONTROL. THIS IS NO BIG DEAL.. IF YOU CAN NOT FIND ONE AT YOUR LOCAL SALVAGE YARD GET ON LINE FOR USED PARTS. NEW GM PRICE IS I THINK IS AROUND $185.00 IF MEMORY SERVES ME CORRECT.
