QuestionQUESTION: until it is up to temperature it runs like at half power. I have replaced the IAC with no change. After it is up to temperature it runs fine. Any info you can give me would be helpful.

ANSWER: HI BEN, WHEN YOU SAY HALF POWER, DO YOU MEAN IDLES LOW ?? OR DO YOU MEAN THROTTLE TO THE FLOOR AND NO POWER. I WILL GO WITH THE LAST, THE IAC WILL JUST MAINTAIN THE CORRECT IDLE SPEED, THIS WILL HAVE NO EFFECT ON PERFORMANCE. WHEN IT IS COLD DOES THE ENGINE STILL RUN SMOOTH OR IS IT SKIPPING ?? DO YOU NOTICE ANY BLACK SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST,LIKE RICH CONDITION,LIKE MAYBE THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR IS BAD ??? AT THIS POINT I AM ONLY GUESSING, IF YOU COULD GET BACK TO ME WITH MORE INFO THIS WOULD BE A BIG HELP. TOM

QUESTION: Idle is fine and is smooth. The idle doesn't seem any higher when it is cold tho. Do not see any black smoke. It is almost like it is not getting enough gas or not all cylinders are working. Then as it warms up it gets better and better.
ANSWER: HI BEN,IF IT WERE NOT RUNNING ON ALL 8 CYLINDERS IN WOULD NOT RUN SMOOTH. SO WE CAN RULE THAT OUT. I THINK AT THIS POINT I WOULD LIKE YOU TO GET THIS ENG SCANNED FOR DATA..I AM WONDERING IF THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR IS FAULTY AND DOES NOT LET THE PCM KNOW WHAT TEMP THE ENGINE IS AT..
THIS WOULD EXPLAIN WHY THERE IS NO FAST IDLE WHEN COLD. I AM ONLY GUESSING AT THIS POINT. IF I HAD SOME DATA TO GO ON IT WOULD HELP ALOT. I HAVE SEEN BAD OR SHORTED O2 SENSORS DO THIS.. I KNOW IT SOUNDS OFF THE WALL BUT. !!!LET ME KNOW TOM..

QUESTION: Idle is not fine. It goes up and down pulling out of driveway down hill, it almost stalls. It doesn't go to fast idle when started. Barely any power when it first gets going. Then gets progressivley better when fully warmed up. Have tried temperature sensor and new leads, no change. HELP!
A mechanic friend I know said possibly a coil? How would this affect the fast idle?
AnswerHI BEN, I DONT BUY THE COIL. THAT WOULD PREVENT A NO START WHEN COLD OR WET OR VERY LONG CRANK.
IS THERE A REASON WHY YOU ARE NOT GETTING THIS SCANNED FOR DATA ??? PLEASE DO THIS.IT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY GUY. I NEED TO SEE SOME VALUES FROM PCM TO TELL YOU ANYMORE. THANK TOM.
