Chevrolet Repair: 1997 Silverado Brake lights, turn signal switch, chevy silverado

Question
I have a 1997 Chevy silverado Ext cab Z71. Every now and then i was blowing brake light ans tail light fuses. i would replace them and move on. but now i have no brake lights. my fusses under the hood and by the dash are good. i changed my brake switch on my pedal and there was no change. i had someone i know look at it and they said my hazard switch is bad. i know that my switch has problems b/c my dim lights stopped working. as you probaly know the dimmer switch, turn signal switch, cruise, and hazard are all the same switch and it is rather exspensive, can that switch really make your brake lights stop working or does the guy not know what he is talking about dont want to spend the money if its not going to fix my brake lights.and my turn signals where working when i took it to him,i havent picked it up from him yet but he called and told me my turn signals where not working now, but he may have just blown a fuse on them.  PLEASE HELP!!

Answer
HI DANIEL,YES THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH DOES GO INTO THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AND BACK OUT..MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO GET THE TRUCK BACK AND REMOVE THE REAR WIRING HARNESS TO THE BACK LIGHTS.
SHOULD BE AROUND THE LEFT REAR BUMPER AREA. CK THIS HARNESS PLUG REAL GOOD,NO GREEN STUFF IN THIS PLUG. I HAVE SEEN MANY PROBLEMS [CORRODED WIRES HERE.] CK ALL THE FUSES FIRST BEFORE GETTING INTO THIS. DOES THIS HAVE A TRAILER PLUG ??? IF SO, [REALLY CK] THIS AND ALL RELATED WIRING TO IT. REPLACE THE THE FUSES IF NEEDED AND THEN UNPLUG THIS HARNESS. SEE IF THE FUSES BLOW LIKE THAT.IF FUSES DO NOT BLOW THEN THE WIRING FROM INSIDE OF TRUCK TO THIS POINT IS GOOD. THEN IF YOU HAVE A TEST LIGHT SEE IF YOU HAVE ANY POWER AT THE WIRING FROM THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL,ONE WIRE WILL BE HOT.NOT SURE OF COLOR. [CK AT THE HARNESS PLUG.] IF SO THEN CHANCES ARE THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH IS OK..THE FACT THESE LIGHTS WORKED BEFORE HE GOT IT, SOUNDS LIKE YOUR HUNCH IS CORRECT..HOWEVER I HAVE SEEN THE TSS WORK SOMETIMES AND NOT OTHERS.TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN CHECKING THIS SIGNAL SWITCH. THE FACT THAT THIS WAS BLOWING FUSES DOES NOT SOUND LIKE THE TSS..I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.IF YOU NEED MORE INFO, DONT HESITATE TO GET BACK TO ME ON THIS. PLEASE WHEN YOU LEAVE THIS SITE WOULD YOU RATE MY ANSWER. THIS WILL HELP ME,,TOM..
