Chevrolet Repair: 1972 Monte Carlo dash lights problem., dash lights, turn signals

Question
Hello, I have a 72 Monte Carlo and I have drove it for years and over the years the dash lights were going out one at a time over the years. Now they are all completely out. I went to replace them and there is no way to get to them from under the dash. I dropped the steering and got to the bright headlight indicator bulb replaced and it didn't come on. The only light that still works is the right blinker bulb above the speedometer in the dash. The headlights come on and I thought it was the headlight switch. Do you know what to take off to get to the bulbs easier? When I get to them and they still don't work what do you suggest. Thank you for your help.

Answer
HI JAMES,YOU HAVE A NICE CAR. TO GET AT THESE BULBS THE BEST WAY IS TO REMOVE THE DASH FACE,IT IS NOT THAT HARD. YOU WILL SEE SCREWS HOLDING THE DASH FACE THE THE DASH BOARD,JUST START REMOVING THEM AND PULL THE DASH FACE WITH THE GLASS COVER ATTATCED WITH IT. YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH ROOM TO REACH BEHIND TO UN CLIP THE SPEEDO CABLE FROM THE SPEEDO HEAD,IF YOU CAN'T REACH FROM THE TOP GET IT FROM UNDERNEATH,PUSH THE CLIP IN AND PULL THE CABLE STRAIGHT OUT.. MORE THEN LIKELY THE PROBLEM IS THE BULBS. IF NOT COULD BE THE PRINTED CIRCUIT THAT THE BULBS GO INTO. THE TURN SIGNALS BULBS ARE NOT PART OF THE LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION. YOU MAVE HAVE A BAD REO-STAT WHICH IS PART OF THE LIGHT SWITCH. THIS IS WHAT YOU TURN CLOCKWISE OR COUNTER CLOCK WISE TO BRIGHTEN OR DIM THE DASH LIGHTS..TRY TO INSTALL ONE BULB WHEN YOU GET IT APART AND SEE IF IT WORKS,IF SO YOU LUCKED OUT. THE NEXT MOVE IS EITHER LIGHT SWITCH OR PRINTER CIRCUIT..LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED MORE HEP. PLEASE HELP ME AND RATE THIS ANSWER. THANKS TOM
