Chevrolet Repair: Engine ECM Replacement, chevy silverado, one hope

Question
I have had problems with my ECM on my 2004 chevy silverado 3500 diesel and I want to replace it but I am being told that I will have to remove the valve covers to get the correct flow rate codes for the injectors. Could you tell me if this correct please?

Answer
Hi Paul.. i haven't heard of that, the ecm is numbered and as long as you replace it with the ecm that corrasponds with that number you should be fine...the ecm controls the injectors so i don't think there should be a problem... just make sure that ecm you get is number matching with your old one...hope this helps
