Chevrolet Repair: 2001 S-10 dies but starts immediately, crankshaft position sensor, fuel pump relay

Question
I have a 2001 S-10 2.2 flex fuel 5 speed reg. cab truck. I have been having problems with it dieing for no reason. I have nothing on the dash to suggest it died other than when I give it gas, I notice nothing happens. It is like someone turned off the key and I'm coasting. I changed the Crankshaft position sensor, fuel filter, plugs and wires, thinking one of these would cure the issue. Nope! It died on me twice on the way home tonight. I have no problem restarting it. I pull over, come to a stop, turn the key off and than turn it on and my truck starts right up with no problems!

Any suggestions on where to go now? I did have a reese hitch installed about a month ago and now I'm having this issue. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but thought I would let you know.

Thanks for ANY help in this!

Answer
Hi Ronda...i wouldn't think that a hitch installation would do anything to cause that, but i have seen stranger stuff....first you need to find out if the cause of the truck quiting is electricial or fuel...does truck quit when just sitting and ideling....or only when you are driving... check the wires that go to the starter for any that are cracked or frayed or touching ground. if it quits only when you are driving it, check all connections for any that are loose or have corrosion, pay special attention to computer connection as well as connections for crank and map sensors.  if you have a scan tool install it and see if you have any codes... if you do correct them and start over. if you think problem is in the fuel system check fuel pump relay and circut for any bad spots, frayed wires etc.etc. check connection at the fuel pump.... what ever the problem is, it is something losing connection then getting connection back after shut down.... hope this helps
