Chevrolet Repair: Wheel Balancing, wheel weights, wheel balancer

Question
Robert;

my 2001 chevrolet silverado v6-short bed seems to have issues getting its tires balanced.  The shop I usually use has a Hunter RF Balancer, but everytime i take it there or to anywhere else for that matter, it takes them 2 or 3 attempts to get the balancing right.  This time i noticed that my right front wheel has no wheel weights on it at all, not on the outside, not on the inside.  Is that normal?  I can see where a weight was before they balanced it yesterday. I still get a side to side shimmy that happens right at 62 MPH regardless of where the wheels are rotated.  The driveline, suspension, tires and brakes have all been checked by several shops, including a Chevrolet dealer with no resolve.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Ryan... is the shop using the right weights, if they using stick on weights that may be the problem...rim has to be really clean for them to stay stuck...when was last time they calabrated the wheel balancer...i would reccomend trying a tire shop where they are always calibrating their machine....hope this helps
