Chevrolet Repair: 1995 lumina starting car kills all power (after turn signal switch replacement), turn signal switch, chevy lumina

Question
I was having a problem with my rear left brake light on my 1995 chevy lumina sedan 3.1. Knew it was the turn signal switch and decided to replace it. After replacing it I checked my brake lights, turn signals etc and all was good again. I then went to start the car and when I did I lost ALL electrical power to the car. It was like the battery had just died. So, I went and got another battery and the same thing happened. If I disconnect the power the electrical functions ok again until I try to start the car. As soon as I do that I loose all power again until I disconnect the battery and reconnect it. Help..!!

Answer
Hi Vince.... You may need to reset the anti theft. depending on which passlock system you have in that car. make sure you reconnected the wires going to the ign key in the coloum...depending on which passlock system it is if you look in the owners manual there is a procedure to reactivate the passlock 1 system. if it's passlock 2 you may have to get dealer to reset....I don't do a lot of work on the anti theft systems so you may also want to try googling it... hope this helps
