Chevrolet Repair: Location, fuse panel, fuse box

Question
I believe that the flasher controle unit in my 2006 Chevy 1500 w/ 4.3 has burnt up is it the unit on the side of the steering wheel that has to be replaced as one or is there a seperate relay of sorts to replace and where would it be

Answer
The flasher is usually controlled by a part that plugs into the fuse box.  If you blinker is comming on but not flashing, then this flasher relay is blown.  Try the hazard lights.  If they blink, look for the source of the blinking noise.  The flasher and the hazard flasher are next to eachother in the fuse panel.  The one that is making the noise can be switched with the other one.  Once switched, try the blinker again.  If they now blink, then you know the part you replaced is bad.
