Chevrolet Repair: Instrument Cluster Bulb - 01 Venture, chevy venture, gas gauge

A bulb is burnt out behind the gas gauge on the instrument cluster of our 2001 Chevy Venture. How is the bulb replaced?
I've heard that the entire cluster must be replaced...tell me this is not true.

I hate to say it, but the bulb is part of the entire cluster, and must be replaced.  You can only get a cluster from a dealer(legally of course) and usually run under two hundred bucks, for the part.  It's a pain, I know, but This is the federal government making sure that no one messes with the mileage of the cluster, and deters the public from doing so
