Chevrolet Repair: 95 z71, stock springs, deck height

Question
I have a 95 k1500 that I am building a 350 for and I have a 270 comp cam that I would like to put in it, just need to know if it would run and what mods or if a tune would make it run?

Answer
What is the lift and duration?  Did you get a cam card with it?  does it give you the degree of timing?  Any time you change a cam, you will need to factor all these things in.  As long as you stay under a half inch of lift, you can run stock springs and lifters.  If you go over, you will need heavy springs and solid lifters.  Also may have to rework the deck height of the block, to gain the compression you are looking for.  YOu will also need a double roller timing chain, and an increase in spark...maybe a High output HEI, or MSD box.  Many things factor in cam change.  If the cam is only slightly higher lift and duration than stock, you won't need to upgrade anything, just the timing.  May have to increase, or decrease depending on the advance marks on the chain gear.
