Chevrolet Repair: engine swap info, chevy astro van, fuel delivery system

Question
i have 1991 chevy astro van. the head gasket blew. and has 275,000 miles on her.  i have a 2003 6 cyl vortex id like to replace it with. can a pre 96 (obd-1) harness work with late model (obd-2) motor. i have the brain for the newer engine (clean w/ 75,000 mi complete turn key. am i spinning my wheels? i believe i need to add 1-more ox/ sensor at exaust. also has a better but different fuel delivery system i want to use. not sure how to mate it to 91 electrical. thanx buddy. jeff las vegas

Answer
Hi Jeff.  the best way to do that swap would be to use the complete harness out of late model astro van. you will also need all the sensors and computers that mate up with that engine and harness. trying to do it with your old harness would be a wiring nightmare, unless it is something that you are good at. if you check out some of the better performance web sites there maybe a conversion harness available to do that swap... hope this helps
