Chevrolet Repair: 94 chevy suburban brake lights, brake light switch, power fuse

Question
I have a 94 suburban and the other day I was driving it,and all of a sudden everything went dead. Well found out that the main electrical wire coming off the battery shorted out (in half).I replaced the whole positive cable and thought everything was fine but I soon found out that I don't have any brake lights. The high mount stop light works but not the left and right. I have tail lights ,turn signals , and hazzard lights, but not any brake lights on bottom. I checked all fuses , bulbs , I even took the tail lights off of my suburban and put them on my dads and they worked fine. I have searched under the dash and along the frame but I cannot find any burnt or broken wires. Am I missing something or what? Hopefully you can help, this is my only vehicle. Oh , and is there any website where I can get a wiring diagram for free?

Answer
Hi Jon... check brake light switch for power..(fuse)... at the switch...one side should be live all the time other side when you push the pedal... if no power try jumping power from the fuse panel if lights work then find the open in the wire from the fuse to the switch...hope this helps
