where is the transmission fluid dipstick on my daughters "new" cavalier. I found
out where you can add fluid but cannot figure out how to check fluid levels?

Hey,

 There is no dipstick in some late model cavaliers.  You need to pull the machine plug at the back of the transaxle and add fluid till it comes out of the hole.  It is a ridiculous design and the idea is that you would use a special flush machine that puts in exactly what comes out.  GM is going to get away from adding dipsticks and have their transmissions non serviceable.
