Chevrolet Repair: 1995 Chevy Blazer - Engine Problem, chevy blazer, crank sensor

Question
Hi Wayne,  Hopefully you can help me.  My Blazer has been to the Chevy Dealer 3 times and another shop once.  Still, the problem has not been found.
My Blazer stutters when applying the gas pedal.  Mostly between 10-35mph.  Once it hits 40mph she takes off with very little stuttering.  After driving for any more than 1/4 mi, then turn off - no restart for at least 10-15 minutes.  The Chevy dealer has replaced the Electronic Ignition Module, several wires (not sure which ones), fuel pump, crank sensor, and had me do a full tune-up on it.  Now the car will start, but not run...stalls out within 1/4 mile with no restart.  They are now telling me it might be the cam sensor or the EGR valve.  They say they have run diagnostics on this, but can't get a good reading because of the year of the car.  Quite frankly, I can't afford to keep paying them for their "maybe's".  I have already put over $750 into this and it's now worse than it was when I started out 4 months ago....Now I can't drive it at all!  PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Answer
Ummm  That sounds horrible. It sounds like they were guessing more than the average consumer.  A 1995 has OBD2 diagnostics and is much easier to repair than most late model trucks.
First things first.  Unplug the EGR valve and drive it.  It won't hurt anything and it will eliminate that part of the circuit.  If it is has a linear valve they were bad for not venting and giving the motor full EGR off idle and making it fall flat on its face.
