how do you change a gas pedal throttle cable yourself

Hey,

  Remove key from ignition, disconnect battery positive cable.  Remove clip and cable from throttle body on engine.  Depress tabs on cable end and slide through bracket.  Go inside vehicle.  remove lower steering column kick panel.  Retract sheath from cable and push plastic tab out of throttle lever.  Pull through fire wall and reverse installation.  Be sure that plastic tabs engage components properly and do no come undone. That could be a serious health problem.

When completed: Be sure to push pedal to floor several times to make sure pedal is free and is not difficult to push.  Have assistant watch throttle lever to make sure it retracts all the way back to idle. Reconnect battery and start vehicle.  Test several times static before road test.


BE CAREFUL!  A throttle cable is just as important as a brake pedal. If you do something wrong be sure to keep a hand on the ignitoin key to shut the motor off.
