Chevrolet Repair: Fuel Pump/Fuse, fuse box, loose wires

Question
Hi my names Mark,
I have a 1992 Chevy S-10 4.3 FI, and I think I have a problem with my fuel pump.  When I turn the ignition, it will turn over and turn on, but only for a second then it dies.  I think it's because there isn't enough pressure for the engine to stay idle.  I haven't tried spraying the throttle body while turning it over yet.  Also, I looked at the fuse box for any dead fuses, and I believe there is a fuse for the fuel pump itself, but I'm not sure where it is.  Is it in the fuse box itself? or where is it?  I plan on replacing the fuel pump, and the fuel filter.  Everything else is hooked up, no leaks, no loose wires.  I just really need some advice before I take the bed off and drop the gas tank.  Also, would I need to buy a new strainer?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Mark.

Answer
Hey,

The fuel pump fuse is outside on the firewall in its own little connector.  Some have them in the panel but most are on the firewall in a little plug.
You really should check fuel pressure and make sure thats your problem.  A bad MAP sensor, CTS, IAC, plugged exhaust etc etc etc.  I would really suggest checking pressure.  If it is the pump I will guide you through the whole repair.  They are not that bad to do and dropping the tank is the easiest way.
