Chevrolet Repair: 96 silverado, powersteering pump, belt tensioner

Question
squealling belt already change less than a month ago doing it again and replaced the belt tensioner

Answer
Hey Myron,

Those belt squeals can be very frustrating.  You have to look very closely at the grooves on the pulleys and make sure the belt is not engaging the pulley too far. A worn out pulley will cause the belt to ride on the point of the triangles when it is designed to ride on the inside edges. If a belt rides on the point of a belt groove it severely diminishes the surface area and slips a small amount causing the sqeal.  check the powersteering pump pulley the closest.  This is the most often worn out pully because of the amount of torque it takes to pump cold fluid.
