Chevrolet Repair: no power going to fuel pump,1997 Monte Carlo Z34 3.4 V6, monte carlo z34, fuel pump relay

Question
QUESTION: I OWNED A 1997 Monte Carlo it quit runing and i thought it was fuel pump so i put a new one in.After that it still wont run.It will crank but wont hit.I know when it first messed up the fuel gauge went to full and stuck.I know the new fuel pump runs because i hooked it straight to battery and it comes on.It seems like i am not getting any power to the fuel pump. The car has pass key does it have anything to do with it.Had key checked it was ok.Any help would be appericated. Oh the fuel gauge is still stuck on full.

ANSWER: Hey,

Ok.  When you installed the new pump did you get one with a complete module?  (new fuel sender as well?)   Wehn you mean that you hooked it up to the battery and it comes on do you mean in the tank or externally tested?
Lets start from scratch.  If you put 12v to the pump (at the fuel pump relay) does the car start and run?

QUESTION: Thanks for your reply.Yes i got a complete module with the new pump and new fuel sender. The pump was in the tank when it was tested it did come on .My brother in law tested it i think he hooked it up from the battery straight to the plug in on the fuel pump. The car would cank but still would not run.I check power at the fuel pump relay as far as i can tell i am only getting power on one side of the relay with the ignition turn on.  Thank You   JEFF

Answer
Ok, now that we know you have fuel pressure lets find out why the comptuer won't pull down the relay and or open the injectors.  Even though you had the pellet in the key checked you don't really know if the computer is seeing a key.  You need to scan for trouble codes and see if there is a security code.  Its time for a scan tool.  CAn you get your hands on one to see the data in the datastream?
