Chevrolet Repair: Steering wheel jerk on 1987 chevy camaro, chevy camaro, hey jack

Question
While I was driving down the road about 40 MPH, my steering wheel jerked really hard to the left.  It jerked so hard that I thought that it would spin me out.  I continued on my way home and it did the same thing over and over again.  It would pull to the right a little but it was mostly to the left side.  I also heard a rubbing noise.  Please help.

Answer
Hey,

Jack the front end up and grab the front tires and see if there is any play in them by moving the tire back and forth.  The tire should have very little lateral play in it if any at all.  Rotate the tire and make sure there is no restriction.  Apply the brake, release and make sure the wheel spins freely.  Maybe a bad caliper or something liek a broken stabilizer link?
