Chevrolet Repair: Crank sensor possibly going bad?, crank sensor, vacuum line

Question
QUESTION: I have A 1995 Buick Regal Custom. It starts up fine but when i get going around 20-30 mph the engine reves and the rpm's usually spike up to 3-5 when it usually runs a 1.5-2.
I've taken my car in but i wasnt given a straight answer. It almost feels like i'm trying to drive a stick shift? Could it be my crank sensor?

ANSWER: Sorry for the delay my dad had a bypass surgery on Tuesday and I am just getting to these messages now.

Is it actually upshifting?  Check to see if the vacuum line has come off of the modulator at the front of the transmission.  A cooked TPS could also cause this. Has it been scanned for codes?  Scan it and tell me what they are.

QUESTION: No need to be sorry. Family comes first. Ihad it scanned for codes. The codes were crank sensor, misfiring multiple times, and trans temp sensor is low. It's been very intermitten. Mostly when it's wet or cold. I live in michigan and the winter has been very nasty. If it's sunny and about 30-40 degrees out the car runs fine. I hope this helps out a little more...Thank you.

Answer
The crank sensor wouldn't cause that and neither will missfires.  (unless it is missfiring constantly.  I would suggest have the transmission road tested for free at a transmission repair facility.  Don't authorize them to pull the pan or you are getting a transmission anyways.  Have them identify the shift problem with a free inspection.  They all offer this.
