Chevrolet Repair: clutch,, master and slave units, stainless steel hose, air intrusion

Question
i have a 1997 chevy 350, 5 speed manual trans 4x4  2500 pickup,,i had a leakey slave unit on the front of the trans,,i replaced it with a brakewear unit from autozone,,i then can only get a solid working pedal for 24 hours ,,then the pedal will go down about 2 inches ,and won't allow me to put it in gear,,tried bleeding again,,same result,,,,so i replaced the master on the firewall and the same thing happens,,there is no leakage of fluid out of the master or slave,,the only item left is the original stainless steel hose ,that shows on leaks ,,do you think i have a defective slave,,,it seems like it leaks air into the system, thank you ,joe

Answer
Hey,

The only thing that will make the slave defective is if its leaking and throwing fluid or sucking air.  You could have a bad master because the rebuilt ones out there suck.
Get a delco new unit but make damn sure that you have all the air out.  If you have a solid pedal for 24 hours and all is good with no slipping and the next day it is low that sounds like air intrusion or the clutch is worn out.  Does it slip at all?
