Chevrolet Repair: car wont start, chevy malibu, car wont start

Question

i have a 2002 chevy malibu v6
my car was just fine, i came as i normally do, the next morning i went out to start the car to warm it up, i turned the key the feul pump in the tank turned on, the car cranked very good, but it wouldn't start. later i poured a small amount of gas into the intake
area and cranked it, it started and ran fine until the gas burned out, so i assumed its getting spark ok. what else should be checked? is there another feul pump? also i cleaned the contacts on the feul pump relay in the fuse compartment. i thought it was the feul line frozen up since it was down in the single digits, but yet ive never had this happen at other times when it was that cold. I also replaced the pressure regulator and still no luck.could you tell me what else to do from here??
thanks so much
tom

Answer
Tom,

The fuel pump is in the tank and fuel pressure needs to be checked first at the schreader beside the power steering pump.  If it has fuel pressure then you should check to see if the injectors are pulsing at the fuel rail.  Without basic electronic equipment you will just be guessing and wasting valuable time and money. If it has factory security it could be the ignition switch.  There are way to many variables  on a 2002 malibu.  If you can tell me for sure whether it is pulsing the injectors or not I will guide you from there.
