Chevrolet Repair: steering column, brake light switch, tilt column

Question
I am putting a 1979 buick tilt column in my fj40 and am having trouble with the wiring for the blinkers thats all i need from the column I use the white as the power and the green and yellow I think are the blinkers but the act oppisite when i turn the blink on the loose power in the neutral position they all have power and will still have power in one position the turn to the next it looses power its the same with the other wire it seems to bee the oppisite

Answer
Hey,

To my recollection the brake wires go through this circuit when it is in the neutral position and thats why it has continuity.  On a vehicle that uses single bulbs for brake and signal the indicator part of the switch must be closed on both sides because the brake light switch feeds the circuit on both sides.  If you give me the exact vehicle specifications of both vehicles I can fabricate a circuit that will work  for you and send you a JPG on how to wire it up with a signal/hazzard flasher.
