Chevrolet Repair: Wont get spark, chevy suburban, rotor

Question
Hello, and thanks in advance for your time.  I have a 1985 Chevy Suburban with a 350.  One morning I went to start it and
it wouldn't start.  I checked and it was getting fuel.  Then I checked for spark and it was really weak.  I then changed, not at once but in this order, the cap and rotor, then the coil, still no spark, then the pickup and condensor.  I still have no spark.  The only part on the distributor I havent changed is that part that you have to remove the distributor to get to with the wires that come out the top.
Is there any way to check this part?  Could it be something else?  I've already spent about 80 bucks and nothing.
Thanks again.
John

Answer
It's most likely either the pick-up coil in the distributor or the module in the distributor if you have no spark at all. with the age of the vehicle I'd suggest replacing both.

There is a procedure in the service manual to test the pick up coil. I would check the wiring very closely. Try giving the wire a very slight pull. If the wiring just pulls apart, then replace the pick up coil.
