Chevrolet Repair: 1990 Chevy, 5.7 TBI power loss, fuel pressure regulator, chevy 5 7

Question
QUESTION: It only has 22,000 miles, it will inermitently lose engine power. doesn't matter what speed or if at an idle. When not acting up it runs perfect. When this happens you have to almost floor it to maintain speed. Doesn't sound like a miss or any thing like that. No codes. Have replaced fuel filter, air filter, plugs, wires, distributor, cap and rotor, ign module, EGR, &  catalitic convertor. We are suspecting a fuel delivery problem. Took it to mechanic but due to it being intermittent he found nothing. Any ideas?

ANSWER: Fuel pressure regulator comes to mind, but just a possibility.
That would cause low fuel pressure.
I'd connect a guage where I could watch it while driving, and then wait for the problem, to see if the pressure drops.

QUESTION: Checked fuel pressure both stationary and driving. Read good whether acting up or not. then drove around with doghouse off to watch injectors while acting up but couldn't get it to act up. When had it in to mechanic he also said it wouldn't act up while driving with doghouse off. Any chance this triggers a thought?

Answer
Look at all the hoses, and see if there is one with a rubbed spot, probably a vacuum hose, and check the ends of it to see if there might be cracks in the hose.
Also, make sure there is a ground wire from the engine to the firewall somewhere, usually on an intake manifold bolt, or the thermostat housing.
