Chevrolet Repair: 1988 Chevy suburban fuel flooding, coolant temp, chevy suburban

Question
When I start my 1988 Suburban it runs fine until it warms up, after that fuel dumps into the throttle body and it floods out and stalls. I took the thermostat out and it stays running. I tried a new thermostat and it still flooded. Any idea why this is happening, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi jgaller,

I have to suspect the coolant temp sensor.  That acts as a choke of the old days.  By removing the thermostat, you change the heat range of the motor.  Replacing it puts the heat range back in spec.  The coolant sensor possibly malfunctions at the proper spec., but the motor is not hot enough to trigger the ill effects of the faulty coolant sensor with the thermostat out.

That is where I would start.
