Question
QUESTION: i have a 1995 suburban that weighs just under 10,000 pounds i live in peoria az and my truck over heats it has a 454 with 300,000 miles on it i also have electric fans and water pump, when i turn on the ac it over heats in about 5 minutes what do u sugest i do?

ANSWER: Hello Jonathan,
Have you made sure there isn't a bunch of grass and leaves and dirt restricting the air flow through the fins?
Look closely between the condenser coil, and the radiator.
As easy as the radiator is to remove, I would pull it out and have it cleaned and flow tested.
Then make sure the fans are turning in the correct direction.

Make sure the timing is correctly adjusted for the altitude you are working at.

Answer
Jonathan,
By overheating...do you mean you are loosing coolant? Or just reading a temperature on a guage?

212 is not overheating. That truck should run at about 230 degrees, but even a little hotter is ok as long as you are not loosing coolant to the ground.

I assume you are certain the electric water pump is circulating to coolant properly.

I don't know about the restricting washer. Only place I have seen one of those is in a boat engine to force the coolant to get hotter.
