Chevrolet Repair: Amount of Torque, spiral pattern, head bolts

Question
What is the torque for the cylinder head, intake manifold and rocker arms for a 1988 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 4x4 pick-up 5.7 lt 350

Answer
Hi Mitch,

Sorry about the lateness in getting back to you.  I needed to get my manuals.  I have been swamped lately.

Cylinder heads = 68 ft#

Intake = 35 ft#

Exhaust manifold = bolts 26 ft#  studs 20 ft#

rocker arms = no specs specified - see below

Rockers are set by turning the rocker bolt until the pushrod doesn't move up and down.  Keep twisting the pushrod until a slight drag.  Then give the rocker bolt one complete turn.  That sets the lifter in the middle of it's travel.  You set these while off the lobe of the cam, no on the lobe.  You set these in a particular sequence.  Do you need the proceedure?

Head bolts should be torqued to 40 ft# all around then to 68 ft#.  Go in a spiral pattern.  Start in the middle and go spirally out to the ends.
