Chevrolet Repair: stuck gas pedal, chev blazer, accelerator cable

Question
My daughter was driving her 95 Chev Blazer at a speed of about 90 km when her accelerator stuck and would not release.  She was quick thinking enough to turn the vehicle off and pull over.  When she started it again it was revving extremely high and it was at this point that she realized the gas pedal was stuck.  She unstuck it, but on her way home it did it again.  What might the cause be?

Answer
Hi Sally,

Well, I think she over extended the accelerator cable.  May have frayed it.

Here is what to do.  Pop the hood.  You will see many covers hiding everything.  Have your daughter operate the gas pedal about half way.  You look for what is moving under the hood.  When you find it, you found the throttle linkage.  You can operate this yourself, by hand under the hood.  If there is a cover around it, take it out of the way.  Operate the linkage by hand, all the way, as far as it will go.  Look to see what is binding it up.  It may be a bent bracket, frayed accelerator cable, or some other cable.  Maybe something else like a wire harness.

The cables attached are the accelerator pedal, the cruise control cable, and maybe a transmission cable.

Once you found the problem, if you don't know what to do next, write me again.
