Chevrolet Repair: 2002 Suburban Electrical Problem, fuel gauge, chevy suburban

Question
I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban with an odd problem. If the vehicle sits for more than a day or two, the battery goes dead. I found a significant draw on the battery, and this is the odd part. After you turn off the vehicle and exit, the fuel gauge, temp gauge and oil pressure gauge come back on. As soon as you open the door, the gauges all return to zero. Also, occasionally, the speedometer will max out while driving as well as the fuel gauge going to full. Please help me with this problem.

Answer
this sounds like your getting into a wiring mess. Sounds like a short somewhere. I'd start looking at you fuses to see exactly what circuit is giving you the big draw.then start checking wires behind your instrument cluster. Good luck to ya, hope this is some help.
