Chevrolet Repair: 92 Chevy V6 Truck chugs in first and reverse . . ., chevy v6, chugs

I have a 92 Chevy V6 Truck and it "chugs" in first and reverse  and then almost dies when clutch is depressed.  For example I'll be in reverse, hit the brakes and push the clutch in, an the truck will bog down kinda sputter and then regain its regular idle, it has died once or twice when this happens, but usually it just barely recovers.  Just driving at slow speeds in 1st it intermittently sounds like a diesel, eradicate almost, but in higher gears pretty much unnoticeable.  It has 154,000 on it.

Well Chris, to start lets look at the basics...are the plugs and wires in good shape? look at all your "tune-up" parts like plugs,wires,cap,rotor, fuel filter,air filter.
if these don't correct you problem try looking at your egr...is it stuck open or closed? it should be closed at idle and open with throttle and closed again at wide open throttle. check these things out first and let me know if you didn't find your problem....we'll dig deeper.
