Chevrolet Repair: motor surging, port fuel injection, carburator

Question
QUESTION: have 1996 s10 4cly, motor surges when first started and then when it warms up runs smooth, can you tell me the cause or point me in the right direction, I.ve replaced plugs, pvc, fuel and air filters

ANSWER: Hi George,

The reason for it going away is when the motor warms up, the computer can correct the problem.

Surging is typically EGR related.  Could be a leaky injector.  Look at the plugs.  If they look alike, then probably not an injector.  Start trouble shooting the EGR.

QUESTION: LILE TO KNOW WHERE THE FUEL INJECTORS ARE LOCATED

Answer
Hi George,

You most likely have port fuel injection.  The injectors in that case are on the intake manifold and attached to a fuel rail.  I don't have a pic, or I would include one.  Go to google.com and go to images and type in fuel injector.  You will see one there.

If you have a carburator looking item under an air cleaner, then you have throttle body.  The injector is that thing.
