Chevrolet Repair: speedo, monte carlo ss, bad cluster

Question
I have a 2004 monte carlo ss. the speedo has developed an intermittent inop condition. seem to happen at no particular time. will start out not working when first started or during the middle of a drive, it comes and goes. does not appear to affect any other system or component. could it be the vss or loose connection? where is this located on this vehicle? thanks for any help

Answer
Hi Ken, The vss sensor sends a signal to the pcm and the bcm. If the sensor were bad you would have codes and a lot of lights on the dash. The most likely cause is either a bad cluster or the connection behind the cluster. You should check these componants.

Hope this helps
