Chevrolet Repair: 2001 Tahoe Steering, chevy tahoe, roller bearings

Question
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe.  Just recently I have noticed difficulty turning left in that it requires a great deal of effort.  This happens only at very slow speeds.  I do not have any issues in turning right.  Any help will be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Paul, This would be the steering gear that has gone bad. Sometimes I have seen small roller bearings in the hose connection at the gear. Other problems could be a bad seal on the spool valve inside the gear. Best thing to do is  replace the gear box with a new one.

Hope this helps
