Chevrolet Repair: 93 Beretta fuel leak, plenium, prybar

Question
QUESTION: I work with a lady that has a 93 Beretta 3.1. She has been smelling gas. The smell seems stronger on the right side of the engine and towards the top. Someone said it was possibly an injector o ring. I thought of doing this myself, just for her,  but I feel I may in over my head. I know it could be a bad injector also. I know nothing about injector repair and replacement.
ANSWER: Hi Scott,

Very nice of you to help this lady out.  This is not a tough job.

You need to remove the fuel rail.  If you try to remove only the bad one, you will bend the rail.  When you buy the o-ring kit, there will be enough to all the o-rings.  I would do them all, since you are there.

You need to remove anything in the way of lifting off the fuel rail.  Most likely this is mainly the plenium.  Take out all the rail hold down screws.  Use a prybar, and gently lift the rail off of an injector, starting in a corner.  It will be tough because the injectors are going to resist being disconnected.  Careful not to bend the rail.  Once the rail is off, pry out the injectors, one-by-one.  Switch the o-ring and use WD-40 to lube it up.  Then push it back in.  Do them all.  Do the top o-rings.  Lube them with the WD and press the rail back on.  Reinstall the hold down screws.  Put the motor back together.

Good luck.

QUESTION: What am I looking at as for as approximate time to do this?
This lady lives alone and only has the one car.

Thank you very much for your help.

Answer
Hi again, Scott,

I am unsure of your expertise, tools, or location to do this work.  I know I could do this job in most of one day.  I imagine if you told her you would do this job for her over a Saturday, that would be plenty of time.  You have the car on Friday night, and start the preliminaries then.  On Saturday, you can get right into it.  Tell her the car needs to be cooled off to work on it.  That is why you need it overnight on Friday.

Good luck.
