Chevrolet Repair: 1994 Chevrolet S-10 transmission, trans shop, redone

Hi, I am having a problem with my transmission shifting into the final gear, it stops at around 50-55mph. It is a 2.2L AT.This was my dads truck its been parked for about a year, had the gaskets redone on engine and the transmission was like that when it was parked.I was just wondering if it was something simple other than fluid levels.Please let me know what you think could be the problem. Thanks

Hi Mike, If this truck has a detent cable for the trans then that is the only thing I can think of that might be the problem. I would take the truck to a local trans shop just for a look at to see what they say. Maybe they can just make a adjustment to the cable, or see if it is broken.
