Chevrolet Repair: 98 chev, pu, gas gauge, bad hope

the gas gauge on my truck has gone crazy, it goes from empty to full and then back again, what would cause this?

Hi Ronald, The problem is the level sensor inside the fuel tank. You need to remove the fuel pump assembly to replace this part as it connects to the fuel pump assembly. You might even want to replace the whole unit (pump too) if you have never replace the pump as long as you have it out. There is no since removing the unit (again)in a couple months to replace the pump if it goes bad.
