Chevrolet Repair: GMC Fuel Problems, gmc suburban, fuel pump relay

Question
I have a 1998 GMC Suburban. Once minute the truck was running. 5 minutes later it wouldn't start. I don't hear the pump running anymore. It would run for a couple of seconds after you turn the key off. It fires when you put starting fluid in. I replaced the fuel pump relay. Its there anything else I can check before I have the fuel pump changed? It's in the gas tank making it not that easy for do it yourself.

Answer
Hi Paul,

Sounds like the fuel pump.  If no pump noise, and the relay didn't fix it, check for a fuse.  That is probably not it.

It is in the tank.  It is harder if the tank is full.  It is not as hard as you think, but it is not an easy job either.  Takes about a day, but is a lot cheaper to do it yourself.

Good luck.
