Chevrolet Repair: flooding problem, upper intake manifold, coolant temp

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have a 1995 Astro van, my problem is flooding. It will not start, checked the plugs and they are soaked. Replace the plugs with new ones and it will start. Shut it off and leave it and try and restart, wont start, check the plugs and soaked??
Can you help me out?
Thanks
ANSWER: Hi Rick, the first thing you need to do is make sure the coolant temp sensor is reading the correct temp. The likely problem is the fuel injector (CPI)unit. These go bad all the time, they leak gas and it is in the middle of the intake. After it leaks for awhile it goes into the cylinders and now the plugs get wet.

Hope this helps

QUESTION: Hey Thanks Mark, but what is a CPI, whats it look like?
Thank you for the reply

Answer
This would be the fuel injector assembly which is located inside the intake manifold. The was a special policy on these years ago where the dealer would replace them under warranty for 75k miles. You need to remove the upper intake manifold to replace it.

Hope this clears it up
