Chevrolet Repair: 98 Chevy Tahoe Transmission, chevy tahoe, solenoid

Question
Good day C J S , I have a 98 Chevy tahoe turbo and the other day my transmission started slipping. i took it to go get the transmission serviced hoping it would solve my problem it didn't. it does go into park and reverse just fine. it shifts from 1st to second fine but from second on it slips. do you think i need a new transmission or is there something else i should look into?

Answer
Hi Gary,

Your transmission is slipping because of internal issues.  You will need to have someone open it up and fix the forward clutches...possibly a band.

It is however possible that all you need is a shift solenoid.  But usually those just work or they don't.

Sorry about the bad news.
