Chevrolet Repair: Heater box vacuum motor, plastic ears, vacuum motor

Question
I have a 2003 Chevy S-10 4 wheel drive automatic which I need to know how to get the vacuum motor off that controls the dash vents and defroster.  I do not see any screws holding it on only plastic ears and I do not want to break them off.  Any information will be of great help.

Answer
are you talking about the mode control switch? if so, you have to pull off the moulding that surrounds the whole unit. the screws are behind the other part of the unit, holding both peices in, i think. lol. its been a long time since i tore them apart. if you dont see it, go to the dealer, and have them print out an exploded view of the hvac controls. that should show you.
