Chevrolet Repair: SWAPPING, gmc sierra, vette engine

Question
I have a 2000 GMC SIERRA 4X4. I would like to know what has to be done to swapp out the 5.3L to a 5.7L LS/2 OR the LS/6 MOTOR. SHOULD THE TRANSMISSION be changed also. Or do you have any suggestions for what is in it now. I am wanting the horse power that the LS/2, LS/6, AND LS/7 SERIES have to offer. Thanks for your time.

Answer
ok, an LS engine is a vette engine. that means more modules, and more wiring. to change that out, you need all the modules, and the wiring harness that goes to the engine. trans wise, i dont think the trans needs to be changed. not sure, never converted to an LS engine. as far at the engine you have now, you could get a performance computer from a speed shop, or even gm i believe. you could put a performance exhaust on it, a high flow filter kit, and maybe a performance intake, that one you will have to check out for yourself. also, you can put headers on the engine with the exhaust.
