Chevrolet Repair: 1993 and 1999 Camaro security system, jumper wire, lt 1

Question
Thanks for the reply. I have reviewed the schematic some and think it may be possible to run a jumper wire from the radio fuse to the pcm fuse and solve the problems. Can you comment on this idea for me and thanks alot.

-----Question-----
I think perhaps my email may have failed to contain the year models of the Camaros. I have a 1993 and a 1999..I have each of the above cars. The security system stops the car from running or cranking and you never know when it will happen. After the vehicles sit awhile they will crank. I do not have the key fob for either. The 1993 will stall going down the road. Can you tell me how I can disable the security system on each car. thanks

Hi Perry,

Unfortunately, I don't believe you can disable these systems.  The system communicates with the computer.  Disabling it would be the same to the computer as hot wiring the car.

You can have these fixed.  If you go to the dealer, it will get fixed right.  If you go to an electric shop, it will get fixed cheaper.  You can try to do it yourself, but it can be a few different things.  One I believe needs to be reprogrammed to the computer.

Good luck with this.  I have a '94 Z-28 with LT-1.  I have been getting a lot of complaints about this system.  I hope this doesn't happen to me.

Answer
Hi Again, Perry,

I would be careful to not spike the PCM with too much voltage.  Usually likes about 5 volts MAX.  I worry about rigging up certain things on today's cars.  They just don't always respond the way would even 15 years ago.

Good luck with that.
