Chevrolet Repair: Chevy Lt1 350 in Iroc-Z, iroc z, replacement bolt

Question

-------------------------------------------
The text above is a follow-up to ...bad news sadly, im in it for a new flex plate too, so i hear the lt4 starter is far more reliable, but pricey....but worth it....so i did everything according to info, it kind of aligned.....but i noticed something. the new replacement bolt was somehow bent...so the starter is moving? i saw some pics of a warped  flexplate....it DESTROYED the starter, ...but since im forced to replace both now, what might be a good lighter flexplate be? or just get the vette lt4 starter and f/plate?

yea, so i did the trick to extend the starter (ring gear?)
and it lined up, no crashing, like it should have worked...but then when it goes to spin...instead of just line up.....ruined the plate.....so can gm also get me the proper starter brace? i see the hole ...but arm doesnt fit the starters end.....so sorry for more questions and lengths, but...you said keep ya posted.....i can handle the job, but just want a good permanent trust worthy fix. so best parts availible i guess LOL

thanks again,

Answer
ok, if the LT4 parts are the replacement, use them. they are heavy duty, and like i said, get the right shims. now for the brace. you will have to get the parts department to show you an exploded view of the starter setup. you may be missing something there that the brace doesnt fit. and as for the bolt, if its bent, its a miracle you got it in and threaded. get a new bolt. if its hitting anywhere in that hole, it will throw the alignment off on the starter. im not telling you to hang parts until you get it, but instead, im telling you to make sure everything is as it was intended from G.M. i think youll find things work much better that way. go heavy duty, that engine obviously has had good work done to it, so its pushing more power, maybe more compression. if thats the case, you are going to need heavier starting parts. good luck and keep me posted.
