Chevrolet Repair: Truck wont start., chevy 1500, chevy dealer

Question
97 chevy 1500 silverado...59,000 + original miles....Will turn over just not firing. Changed plugs, wires, ignition coil, distributor, cap, button, fuel filter...If I pour gas in the  it will fire right up and run, but if motor cools off will not start unless i pour more gas. Can hear fuel pump running. Pressure is only 45, where it is to be 60....Some one also said something about a sending unit. Any suggestions...Went to chevy dealer and put on diag machinge. Was told distributor housing was wearing out. would have to replace I did still doesnt run.

Answer
ok. normally, fuel pressure is supposed to be like 55 to 60 pounds of pressure. if your pressure is 45, the pump is weak, itll supply fuel, but not enough to fire the engine. replace the pump. and, if you put fuel in and it fires, the distributor isnt bad, yet. i cant tell you how much longer you have, but i can say thats not the problem right now. good luck and let me know how it went.
