Chevrolet Repair: No Power...Unable to start my 2001 Chevy Blazer ZR2, chevy blazer, fuse block

Question
This morning (as per usual) I started up my truck and went to my local gas station to put some fuel in.
After fueling, I got back in my truck and went to turn the key but to my surprise, it wouldn't start. (The symptoms were when I turned the key was, there wasn't even a click...the lights went dim and the volt meter was really low which looked like the battery was drained but now that I think about it, it almost looked like a short.)I then called my local garage and they promptly sent some one out to give me a jump start(thinking it was the battery)  The tech tried a jump start but nothing happened.  He then jumped started the truck by leaving the ignition switch in the on/run position and shorting the wires out directly at the starter and it started....so i know it wasn't the starter or the battery.  I then drove it to the shop where they proceeded to test.  it appears that there is no power from the ignition switch to the fuse block.  They said they seemed to think it is the ignition switch itself. Has anyone ever heard of this problem happening before and is it common?  Any feedback would be welcome!

Answer
ignition switches often have problems. but before you do that, start simple, check the fuses for a blown fuse. also, doesnt make sense that the battery was showing dead at the guage. im assuming that the battery is a side mount battery. just humor me and check the positive terminal. they very often times corrode and loose contact. if you have no contact, youll have no voltage to the switch or from the switch to the fuse box. if the terminal is corroded, replace the battery and the terminal on the positive wire. good luck and let me know what happens.
