Answer
Hi John,

Sorry this took so long to answer.

The security is definately a good place to start looking.  You cannot service this yourself.  It is expensive sometimes, and is a dealer repair.

The clicking is the system working to disable your car.  You have since installed a push-button switch.  That is the equivalent of hot-wireing the car, as far as the system is concerned.  It will allow the start, then immediately fail the engine.  Even if the key was in the run position, while pusing the new button.  The system is not working and won't recognize the key in the run position. I am unsure if the system needs to see the key go to the start position, to deactivate the theft control.  If so, the push-button may not work.

You will get gas pressure and spark.  However, the injectors will not fire, and the car will not start.

Go to the dealer to get the security system fixed.  Ask them about the push-button.  May cost around $600, that is what someone here in Michigan paid recently.

Just for kicks, try using your key to unlock the door...instead of the keyless entry.  This is a way on cars to disable the alarm, and kill switch.  May work?!?!?!  If you wired the push-button switch in series, turn the key on and push the button.  If that doesn't work, push the button and turn the key to start position.

Hope this helps.
