Chevrolet Repair: 1999 cavalier cooling fan, cooling fan system, amp fuse

Question
check engine light says cooling fan system trouble on OBD II; 30 amp. fuse blown but jumper on fan makes it run; relay good, car is not running warm but fan won't run, does relay have a constant 12v. @all times or, what could be the problem?

Answer
Hi Mike, yes the relay has power at all times. Either you have a wire shorting out to ground or the cooling fan motor is no good. I would jump terminals numbers 30 and 87 on the relay and let the fan run for 5 or 10 minutes with the engine running. If the fuse blows you know that the fan motor is the problem.

Hope this helps
