Chevrolet Repair: 96 cavalier wont start, security light, gas flow

i got a 96 cavalier from an impound yard..it cranks over but wont start..i think the key that was in the ignition( which doesnt open the doors ) may not be the right key ..is there an anti theft device on these cars..something shutting off the gas flow???can u help

Hello Rob, I don't think the 1996 cav has a theft system. You can tell by turning on the key and looking for a security light on the dash. If there isn't a light then there isn't a theft system. This would lead to a bad pump or no gas in it.
